Ahead of the governorship supplementary election in Kano, the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that the commissioner of police, Muhammed Wakili, can no longer be trusted.
Ganduje claimed in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service that Wakil is politically partial.
He said, “I didn’t know him before now but the way he does his job is questionable.
He has taken and favoured a particular political side, which is uncalled for and translates to mishandling his job.”
According to Ganduje, Wakil has no constitutional right to arrest either the governor or his deputy as he did during the election.
He argued that the action of the police commissioner is an indication of lack of professionalism.
