Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed the Emirate Repeal Law 2024 dissolving the five Emirate Councils in the State created by the immediate-past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019.
Consequently, the govenor officially reinstated the deposed 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II back to the Kano throne.
Addressing the press shortly after assenting the new law, the governor revealed that the five dethroned Emirs have 48 hours to vacate the palaces and submit all official items in their possession to the office of the deputy governor of the state, who doubles as the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Governor Yusuf called for peace and harmony to reign in the state during the transition period.
