Kaduna High Court Grants Sheikh El-Zakzaky’s Request To Travel Abroad But With Condition

The Court has finally granted bail to  the embattled leader of Shiites, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeena to travel to India for medical attention.

The Ruling was just delivered after heated arguments from both Counsels during the last Hearing.

While the permission was granted as requested by El-Zakzaky’s lead Counsel, Femi Falana SAN, the trial Judge however said the Shiites leader and his wife will not be allowed to travel alone so as to block the chances of any possible escape by El-Zakzaky after traveling.

El-Zakzaky according to the Court will be escorted by Security officials from Nigeria to India and will be under strict  surveillance to ensure his return back to Nigeria for the continuation of his trial.

It is likely that even while in India, Nigeria will use its diplomatic relations with the country to ensure that Sheikh El-Zakzaky is well guarded by both local and Indian securities to prevent any possibility of not returning back to Nigeria.

It remains to be seen if the ruling will be accepted by the Government of Kaduna State who instituted the charges against El-Zakzaky from the first place and the kind of arrangement the Federal Government will make.
