Jubilation Galore As Imo Poly Umuagwo Holds 39th Matriculation Ceremony For 3000 ND, HND Students

It was indeed an academic jubilation galore as the staff, management and students of the “Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, officially celebrated the institution’s 39th Matriculation Ceremony 2018/2019 National Diploma, ND 1 and the Higher National Diploma, HND Students Regular and Weekend Programmes.

The ceremony of matriculation which took place at the Polytechnic’s pavilion on Friday,Feb.8th 2019,attracted so many top Imo State government functionaries, which includes: the Imo State Governor,Rochas Okorocha,who was represented by the Deputy Governor Designate, Sir.Callistus Ekenze,Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha,as the Mother of the Day, Hon.Uche Nwosu,as the Guest of the Day,who was represented by the Campaign Director, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu Campaign Organization,High Chief Chidi Ibeh,amongst others too many to mention.

In his address presented,the Rector of Imo Poly,Rev.Fr.Wence C.Madu,PhD,expressed pleasure to welcome all and sundry to the official entry of the matriculands as students into the higher institution of learning.

He described the occasion as a customary annual ritual where we indicate unrelenting readiness to continue to impart knowledge and mold good characters for the development and growth of the society at large.

Fr.Madu,recalled that the institution since inception in 2007 is still lacking required basic facilities with serious deficit in infrastructures but disclosed that Governor Rochas Okorocha,in 2011 and unreserved effort of management;the institution has grown in leaps and bounds as evidenced in both the academic performance and infrastructural developments in all our campuses.

The Rector however commended the Governor for his offering of free education in Imo State which is enough investment in the future that will not be forgotten in the history of Imo State.

Rev. Wence revealed that the Polytechnic has 23  Academic Programmes  and all are accredited by National Board of Technical Education,NBTE.

“My dear children,you are indeed very fortunate to be offered admission into ImoPoly. I say so because of all the total number of 4,348 candidates that applied for admission in Imo Poly,only 3,000 was admitted having scaled through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,UTME,and our rigorous screening exercise. We are poised to offer to you qualify education via teaching and researching. We appealed and urged you (students) to key in immediately into the tradition of the school by focusing on your studies. Shun cultism,indecent dressing and other social vices which Rob you of your graduation”,says the Rector.

The highlights of the event was the official  ceremonial awards given to some respected political juggernauts in the state for their respective assistance in recognition of their indelible and support towards the growth education and academic development in the state especially to the Polytechnic.

The awardees includes: Governor Rochas Okorocha,ably represented by Sir.Calistus Ekenze, Chief Uche Nwosu,as “Continuity Master for Free Education) but was ably represented by Chief Chidi Ibeh,and the Commissioner for Tertiary Education,

Prof.Eldna Matthews Njoku, the Imo House of Assembly for Ihittte-Uboma,who is the House Committee Chairman of Education,Hon.Mrs.Uche Ejiogu,the Permanent Secretary/Clerk of the Imo State House of Assembly,Sir.Barr.Chris Duru,as a Great Friend of the Polytechnic.

Others are:the 2019 Imo AA candidate for Ohaji,Egbema,Oguta and Oru-West,Hon.Engr.Kingsley Chima Uju,who was ably represented by Hon.Rowlins Ohagwam,who in his words expressed satisfaction to be honored by the students and the management of the Polytechnic.

Meanwhile,the Imo AA House of Representative candidate for Ohaji,Egbema,Oguta and Oru-West,Hon.Kingsley Chima Uju,through his representative at the matriculation ceremony,Hon.Rowlins Ohagwam,has assured the students,lecturers and the people of the Imo Oil Region to support and vote for his principal,Engr.Uju on Feb.16th 2019.

Also,the Clerk of the Imo House of Assembly,Sir.Chris Duru,who was honoured by the Student Union Government,SUG,for his support,expressively thanked the students and the school management for recognising him,even as he promised to always carry them along.
