Even with the existence of the 1999 (as amended 2011) constitution chapter 4,section 39 which guaranteed the freedom of speech as well protect the citizens, a stiff moment await Journalists in Nasarawa State, reasons been that the State governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has warned newspapers operating in the state to desist from provocating statement, hate speeches or exposing the current administration under his headship to ridicule or risk jailed term.

The promised to goes tough with any newspapers, Bloggers and Facebookers spreading hate statement against other tribes meant to foment any unrest in the state.

Al-Makura hinted this when paramount rulers paid him a Sallah homage/welcome him from his voyage to the Holy Land to perform lesser hajj.

The governor said the state government would dealt with Journalists, Bloggers and Facebookers spreading unwarranted statement that may cause friction with the fragile peace experienced in the state.

“These are warning that most be adhered to whether a reporter, Blogger or Facebookers would not go scot free caught writing and posting unguided utterances, saying provocative statement are responsible for conflicts and skirmishes”.

Calling on monarchs in the state to accord the incumbent reign an utmost support to nip the situation by the bud.
