COVID-19: Jos North -North Member Appeals To Lalong To Consider Suffering Of People

The Member representing Jos North-North constituency in the Plateau state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan, has appealed to the Plateau state Governor Simon Bako Lalong and  the state Government, to wear a human face over locking breadwinners of members leading to hardship currently been experience and  allow people to  come out and operate their full businesses in other for them to have a source of livelihood.

 

Speaking on the plight of long hunger during Ramadan period Baba-Hassan  said the people have fully complied with lockdown order, spanning about four weeks, but  need food to survive.

 

Hon.Hassan made the call while contributing to motion of urgent public importance raised by the House majority leader Hon. Daniel Nanlong, during extraordinary plenary, Tuesday.

 

Hon. Hasssan said: “The lockdown has two implications on the lives of the people, it has implications on both the health and the economic sectors. My constituents are hungry they are dieng.”

 

“I must commend my constituents for thier 100 percent compliance, I must also commend the vigilante and neighbourhood watch for their efforts, even without been given a daem.”

 

He added that one of his constituents residing at Apata ward had died while inside his room, and might be as a result of hunger.

 

“Government alone cannot be able to provide food to the people, we have done our best but is as if we hadn’t done anything,” he said.

 

Hon. Hassan said Government should enforced security at all borders, and to allow any body comes in press or goes out of the state.

 

“The best thing for us is have total lockdown of our borders and allow the people to come out and do their business,” said.

 

Hon. Hassan commended Governor Simon Lalong’s efforts, but urged him to do more.

 

The mover of the motion Hon. Daniel Nanlong, said the extraordinary plenary, was to review the development of what has happened within the period of the lockdown.

 

He said the lockdown has been a difficult challenge on the people of the state, saying all commercial and economic activities that people relied on to earn good leaving have suffered set back.

 

He said since observing personal hygine is the best ways to prevent people from contracting Coronavirus, there is the need for government to mass produced  face mask, hand sanitizers and soaps to be distributed free to the people.

 

“If that is done we can open the state economy so that people can earn a leaving,” he said.
