The Secretary of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State ,Pharmacist, Samuel Gyang has commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang, John Christopher, and Rt.Hon.Anthony Uzoma Okoro for subsidizing the distribution of bags of fertilisers to farmers across the wards, including Vanderpuye .
Speaking at the flag of exercise held at Vanderpuye Garden, Samuel Gyang thanked Uzoma Okoro, for embarking on the distribution of the bags of fertilizer as well as improving the well-being of his ward.
He warned against the bags of fertilisers being sold or diverted, saying the fertilizers will encourage agriculture and food security, apart from curbing idleness.
He said: “This official flag-off ceremony of fertilizer distribution to our farmers today is a commitment by the councillor to encourage food production and food security in Jos North Area Council.
“Permit me to thank our Deputy Leader for approving the distribution of bags of fertilizer, which were subsidized and rebadged. These fertilizers must not be diverted or sold; they must get to be used on our own farm to enable us to improve agricultural productivity.
“This exercise is a way of encouraging our youth to engage in agricultural activities to run away from Idleness.
“The intervention is to further support economic development in our rural communities, where 95 percent of our population here businessmen and they generate revenue for the council. Take note that these fertilizers are given out free of charge to you, our farmers.
Pharmacist Gyang lauded the Deputy leader for the great opportunity that he has created for the people of Vanderpuye ward, aiding with the subsidized price of fertilizers, putting a smile on their faces.
“Beneficiaries of this free fertilizer include farmers drawn from traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups, cooperative societies, road transport workers, and motorcycle, Keke groups, as well as politicians.
“I assure you that this intervention would be a continuous process, the same way we started this intervention in 2024 with the provision of bags of rice.
“Let me also commend the Governor Caleb Mutfwang administration’s readiness to improve the transportation sector, the agriculture and health sectors.
He said the fertilizers will encourage agriculture and food security, warning that under no circumstances should they be sold by the farmers or found in the market.
However, the fertilizer was rebadged to be shared with the beneficiaries little by little for everyone to get, and we must commend Uzoma Okoro, the Chairman of Jos North, because the people of Jos are singing praises to him for credible performance towards addressing numerous challenges.
According to him, the executive arm of Jos North LGA is faced with numerous challenges of insecurity, poverty, hunger, and healthcare delivery. We also have farmers here businessmen, and women, and the chairman has been praying for the protection of lives and properties, including their safety.
He commended Governor Caleb for his overwhelming support to the people of Jos North and visionary transformation as the council chairman.
Gyang called on the people of Jos North to remain calm and resolute by praying that the executive and legislative arms should work together in harmony for the progress of the citizenry.
Adding, Jos North will soon begin to enjoy more meaningful projects that would benefit them through the unwavering support of the state.
