Jos North APC Primary Election: Jos North CAN Youths Wing Exposes How Delegates Were Forced To Vote An Aspirant, Bribed Them With Money

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)(Youth Wings), Jos North Local Government Area Chapter have blown hot over religious extremism and frowned at the rising ugly consequences of externally sponsored forces ahead of Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, scheduled LGA election that will hold in 2018.

In a press statement made available to our correspondent in Jos the National Director of YOWICAN, Evangelist Ringsum Joshua John and Chairman Jos North Youth Wing, Rev. Samson Maia Mshelia all expressed concern that the use of religious extremism to achieve and take over power if allowed may trigger a conflict of interest.

The CAN Youth wing advised Governor Simon Bako Lalong to urgently put in place strong mechanism to prevent those perpetrators before its lead to violence during and after voting exercise.

“It would be recalled the 28th November 2008 Local Government election sparked off violence leading to the death of over 600 innocent people who lost their lives during Governor Jonah Jang regime,” he said.

“We want to bring our concern to the appropriate channel in regards to the All Progressives Congress primaries which took place on the 18th November 2017. As Christian youths in Jos North, we are none political but peaceful as instructed in the Holy Bible to pursue peace with all men”, the statement reads.

“We are amazed at the way religion was brought to the Jos North LGA primaries which destabilized the essence of the process, because delegates were taken to the mosque under duress to vote an aspirant, they were induced financially and asked to vote based on religious basis and if delegates were taken to the church, then it will take a serious religious dimension into the system, because a political party is not a religious group but an association of like minds” the statement explain.

The Christian youths warned against top government officials’ comments that may portend danger as it is capable of truncating the hard end peace, which they said it should not be allowed.

According to the statement, the event recorded mass irregularities and over voting with financial support from outside as the Muslim aspirant used cheques at the scene of the voting to induce some Christian supporters from the Eastern Nigeria.

We are peacemakers and for the interest of the peace in Christ Jesus, we want action to be taken to address the abnormalities before the election day draw closer.

Meanwhile, while speaking the People Democratic Party,(PDP) Chairmanship, Hon Aminu Zang said the election will hold in Jos  North Local Government Council considering level playground exhibited during congresses where we all the tribes including the Hausa /Fulani insisted on my pedigree.

He said, his focal point for joining political race of Jos North Chairmanship is to bring in the trusted leadership of accommodating all the ethnic nationalities residents in the area by ensuring that he consolidate on the past.

According to him, he said; “my mission to the good people of Jos North is for total integration between the Christian and Muslim in order to accomplish of our old good days of leaving together as members of one family.”

“We have to join the league of other states of preaching pure democracy and to imbibe thorough democratic tenets of achieving electioneering campaign promises accountability and good governance.

Hon Zang assured people of Jos north of stabilizing and consolidating on equitable distribution of resources with the availability of funds.

The people Democratic Party flag bearer for 2018 LG election in Jos North, Aminu Zang promised an all-inclusive governance if elected as the Council Chairman.

He disclosed that one of his focal interests would be to consolidate on the peace that has returned to the state capital.
