Jos Electricity Distribution Company Sacks 200 Workers For Protetsing Against Exploitation By The Company

About  200 protesting workers of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company has finally received their lay off letters after protesting poor conditions of service .

The DISCO staffs were discharged by the management of the company in Jos on Tuesday morning.

One of the affected workers disclosed who disclose this universalreporters247.com  said the management took the drastic decision of sacking its members after the protest.

The group spokesman ,comrade Ayiga expressed shock with the action DISCO said; “We  refused to be intimidated by action of  the Jos Distribution for employing workers of part time then later disengaged them.

According to their statement the said; “in line with the on-going protest embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employee, (NUEE), JED wishes to state that talks with the NUEE has been on-going before now and we shall continue to dialogue with them to resolve all complaints.

Among the issues raised by NUEE, we are oblige to inform you that no staff has been relieved of his or her duty without a genuine reason bothering on the terms and conditions of this organization.

The disparity in salary as part of their grievances is however unfortunate as there is no organization in the world where salaries are not based on qualification and term of service.

Our correspondent gathered that most of the sacked staffs are  SSCE holders not  BSC holders.

    This is what is wrong with Nigeria. Who cares what certificates they have. It should be about competence on the job!!!
    If they SSCE holders are doing the same work as BSC holders and showing competence, forget their degrees!
    You cannot run a company like the government and expect good results.
