Ahead of the April 11 governorship election, the members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Jos branch have not endorsed any gubernatorial candidate in Plateau state.

In a statement dated 4th March,2015 , made available to journalists ,the state branch Chairman Barr. Ledak Dazuk Dafer has drawn the attention of the general public and the state members on publications in some national dailies to the effect that the branch has adopted Rt .Hon Simon Lalong as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming general elections.

He said, we hereby categorically state that the Jos Bar,being a branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, a foremost professional (non-political ) body has not adopted and will never adopt, or endorse any particular candidate for any political elective position.

The statement which tends to show that we have endorsed a particular candidate is misleading and is likely to have the effect of rubblising the efforts of the branch in carrying out voter Education and mobilization workshop and rallies to sensitze the general public to come out en mass and vote candidates of their choice which was exclusively carried out at great financial expense of its members.

It was alleged that the branch chairman drum support for the former speaker Hon Simon Lalong is not true, we members of the same association and cannot be partisan ,he explained.

“You know that the legal profession is a respectable one because it frains people in character and in learning and by the grace of God ,we support all the candidates bid for any elective positions.

He called on the general public to disregard the alleged publications which is aim at causing confusion among peace loving citizens of the state.
