Jonathan Probe Panel Diversionary – CACOL

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has described President Goodluck Jonathan’s Probe Panel on Stella Oduah’s scandal as diversionary.
President Goodluck Jonathan had on Wednesday, set up a committee led by a former Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Bello, and also had the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and Air-Vice Marshal Dick Iruenebere (rtd) as members, to investigate the N255m bulletproof cars purchased for the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of the Coalition, Debo Adeniran, speaking on its behalf averred that the panel is meant to divert the attention of Nigerians from the issue at stake.
“The Panel is just another attempt to sweep the scandal under the carpet. Nigerians now know better that the probe panel is a way to douse the heat that has followed the revelation of Stella Oduah’s shenanigans in the Aviation Sector. The panel itself is another way of wasting the scarce resources and manhour that could have been deployed into doing something more meaningful. All these diversionary panels make a mess of President Jonathan’s purported fight against corruption.
As a matter of fact, the panel cannot do diligent investigation. If anyone would constitute a panel, it should be the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission or Economic Crimes and Financial Crimes Commission that will choose from their own ranks of personnel, “Adeniran said.
