Jonah Jang Absent At Lalong Inauguration Ceremony

The immediate past Governor of Plateau state Jonah David Jang was conspicuously absent. At the swearing-in-ceremony of Governor Simon Lalong, The outgoing Deputy Governor of the state, Amb Ignatius Datong Lonjan and the Chairman of the transition committee in the state Prof. Shedrack Best stood in for him. Earlier, Prof. Sony Tyoden took his oath of office as Deputy Governor of the state.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the state Justice Lazarus Dakyen.

The outgoing Governor Jonah David Jang in his usual characters dishonoured the people of the state by being absent during the handing over notes which was described by many senior citizens as disloyalty and disrespect to the constitution of Nigeria.

Dignitaries and security personnel as well as party supporters arrived at Rwang Pam stadium venue of the swearing-in-ceremony which was full to capacity; many women were seen dressed in traditional Goemai culture.

After taken his oath of office, Lalong in inaugural address promised to reposition the civil service for better productivity. The ceremony was witnessed by the outgoing Former Deputy senate Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu, Senator Joshua Dariye, Dame Pauline Tallen, J.T Useni, General Joshua Nimmyel Dogonyaro, Speaker Rt Titus Alams, former military sold administration group Capt Dan-Suleiman and host of others. The venue of the inauguration was also well attended by distinguished guests.

Meanwhile, Plateau state capital yesterday went agog with mammoth crowd from across the 17 local governments to witness the official transition of power from PDP to APC in the state.

Governor Simon Lalong has inherited over 48 billion naira debt from the administration of Governor Jonah David Jang in his official handing over notes.

Our correspondent gathered that the police band who were dressed Red and white ready attire were ready for the parade to welcome the governor ,Bar.Bako Simon Lalong , to add colour the APC Party flag  and Logo was all over the stadium. The local traditional entertainers were not left out as the made the mood of the well wishers okay, while some market women and young boys used the presence of dignitaries to sell their goods.

The Governor Simon Lalong is the longest serving Speaker in the Plateau state House of Assembly. He was born on the 5th May, 1963 in Shendam Local Government Area ,hold masters degree in law (LLM) with the university of Jos ,he started his early education in the RCM primary school Shendam.
