Jigawa State Govt. Establishes School of Nursing, Specialists Hospital in Hadejia

Muhammad-Abubakar-BadaruThe Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced his government’s decision to establish a school of Nursing and Midwifery in Hadejia town and the conversion of the town’s General Hospital to a specialists hospital. The Governor mentioned this at the palace of the Emir of Hadejia, HRH Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Maje at a courtesy visit he paid to the palace during a working tour to inspect flood disaster that wrecked some parts of the town.

The Governor also announced the expansion of Birniwa Hospital, in Birniwa Local Government of the emirate, to a standard General Hospital to ease the strain on Hadejia General Hospital. This he said is part of his government’s comprehensive health programme across the state.

According to the Governor, Hadejia town is also to enjoy an electronic JAMB Centre to ease the suffering of candidates from the seven local government areas of the emirate that had to go to the neighbouring states to sit for the examination. All these he said “Are your requests not our initiatives. We are ready to do more here as we are doing for other areas of the state.” He also reminded the people of the on-going multi-billion Naira Dangote Rice Mill in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area that is part of the Emirate, and Dangote Sugar factory in Hadejia that all came to being during his administration, and reiterated his government’s support for both out-growers that will produce and supply rice to the company and other small producers, to produce and sell at competitive prices.

With regards to the perennial flood that besieges the town annually, he said as a temporary measure, he has already sent excavators and tipper lorries to dredge and evacuate the silt that blocked the drainages, while Engineers were already on the ground designing a system that will offer a permanent solution to the problem.

While inspecting the flooded areas with the Governor, the Emir thanked the governor for all he is doing for the people of the emirate and enjoined the people to support the project and cooperate with it in ensuring its success: “Any house deserved to be demolished to give way for the drainages shall be demolished even if it is the palace of Hadejia” the Emir emphasised. He said the people are now seeing the difference as they now have government that has immediately comes to their doorstep at the time of need, and further called on the governor not get tired of their demand “as we shall call for more.” The Emir said.

At the town’s Catering Rest House where the governor inspected renovations for the proposed School of Nursing and Midwifery, he said the priority of his government is “provision of education, enhancing the people’s health and employment creation for sustainable development.”

Speaking to reporters at Birniwa Hospital during the Governors visit, Senator representing the seven local government areas of the Emirate, Senator Ubale Shitu Magama thanked the governor for bringing investors to develop the economic potentials of the area and providing them with enormous health and educational infrastructure. He then called on the people to support the government, saying “As you are now seeing change has come, the development we have been yearning for decades is now at our domain. I assure you very soon this government will touch the remaining local governments of the emirate. The governor is aware of so many abandoned road and other projects in our, he will In Sha Allah,  very soon come to our rescue”.
