The Jigawa state government has commenced the payment of pension and other entitlements to 219 workers who retired from service.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, Jigawa state and Local Government Contributory Pension Board, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa during a press briefing organised by the board saying that, a total sum of N498,467,684.16 will be paid during the exercise.
Alhaji Kamilu noted that the exercise is not a new business to the board, as such payment is carried out every quarter of the year.
He explained that the payment included: Retirement benefit, Death benefit, Death pension Balance, Refund of 8% Contribution, and refund of underpayment for workers from the state, Local government as well as Local Education Authorities in the state.
According to him, 163 workers will receive the sums of 422,333,850.66, while 33 to be paid N57.1 million as the death benefit, 19 to receive N18.3 as pension balance, and N564,200.04 as the refund of 8%/contribution to 4 workers who retired.
The Chairman assured workers in the state that, the board will continue to protect their interest and ensure their money is in safe hands for timely payment of their entitlements.
He also commended the state Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for his support and cooperation gave to the board which makes their work easier and successful.
