Jigawa PDP Gov Candidate Picks Party Chair As His Running Mate

In line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) directive to presidential and gubernatorial candidates of all the political parties to submit the names of their running mates, the Jigawa state People Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido has picked the serving chairman of the party (PDP), Honourable Babandi Ibrahim Gumel as his running mate in the 2023 gubernatorial elections.

This was contained in the Facebook wall of the Jigawa state branch of the People Democratic Party (PDP) which was signed by the new media aide to a gubernatorial candidate, Malam Mansur Ahmed, who said “the decision of picking Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim Gumel as running mate to the gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji (Dr) Mustapha Sule Lamido is after due consultation and agreed by all party’s stakeholders.

The post stated further that “it is very clear to everyone that choosing Honourable Babandi Ibrahim is based on merit and popularity. And all believes he matched the position and can handle all challenges related to the position”.

Malam Mansur Ahmed “explained that “the leader of the party in the state and former governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has blessed and adopted the decision”.

According to him “Honoured Babandi Ibrahim Gumel is the current state party chairman. He was two terms member Jigawa state house of Assembly, former commissioner of information”.

“Before his venturing  into politics, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim was a staff of the than Triumph publishing company, the publishers of THE TRIUMPH NEWS PAPER, Albishir ,Alfinir Newspapers in kano of Kano state government.
