The Jigawa State governor, Badaru Abubakar, has approved the sum of N136,762,448.08 for the construction of 90 daily prayer mosques (three each in 30  state consistencies)  to various successful bidders already certified by the Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau of the state.

In November 2016, Muhammad Musa, the chairman of tender board for the projects, said 78 construction companies participated in the bid for construction of the mosques in the state.

A statement by the Jigawa State commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Bala Ibrahim, at the end of the State Executive Council meeting said the council ratified the contract awards on Wednesday.

The council also considered and approved contract for the construction of 2-Span Bridge on Gwaram- Basirka Road to Messrs Alren Construction Company Limited at the cost of N292,696,945.76.

The commissioner however said State Executive Council would henceforth treat farmers who default in loan repayment as economic saboteurs.

He said the council has noted the dynamic effort of the State government towards the execution of the State agricultural programmes with particular reference to the current dry season cluster wheat farming.

He added that the government is committed to pursuing the diversification of the state economy for self-sufficiency and wealth creation.

The commissioner further stated that the council encourages the supply of fertilizer, improved seed, and other agricultural inputs as loan to farmers.

He said the council strongly advised the participating cluster farmers to settle such loans after harvest to enable other willing farmers also benefit.
