Jang, Others Responsible For Plateau PDP Crisis, Useni Alleges

The People Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Plateau State governorship seat in 2019, Lt.Gen Jeremiah Timbut Useni has accused the immediate past Governor’s Jonah David Jang of been behind the lingering crisis rocking the party as merchant of political wars in causing unnecessary feuds.

Speaking to journalists at his Residence in Jos on Friday, Sen Jeremiah Useni accused Jang of creating factions between the PDP Family in the State.

He said the same group of people who caused the party to lose the 2015 general elections is responsible for the failure of the party again and again.

According to him, Jonah David Jang who spent 8 years in office as Governor,  in 2015 he jettisoned the zoning arrangement and went ahead to bring his cousin to run for the seat, this he said caused the party to lose the election whereby the APC Candidate clinched the governorship seat.

He said, “We can’t continue to behave like this, the 2023 is still a long way, the journey is still far we don’t know what would happen before that day, we should pray to be alive then, not to be instigating each other to have factions “.

However, when sough to find out his confidence in the Supreme Court, Useni said; “ I have confidence but I don’t, so far the manner the tribunal and the Appeal Court dismissed the suit against Lalong owning to the fact that there 21 count charges we brought and they are serious offenses.

He explained further that, he has not been happy with some cases where they gave a wrong judgment, especially in some of the issues that are wrong yet the tribunal was saying that they are not wrong.

Our grounds of appeal which was rejected and 23rd proceeded to Supreme Court and it gave her judgment, that aspect was completely refuse by the trial tribunal to be added on it, he added.

Jeremiah Useni complained about the judgment that they didn’t approach the tribunal over the qualification of Lalong but the form CF0001 was a clear indication that the Lalong lied on oath while filing the form.

On Monday this week, drama eschewed between Sen Jonah David Jang and that of Sen.Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu leading to the theatre of the battle that resulted in some persons being injured.

The former Governor Jonah David Jang mobilized his supporters to his Du home briefing them to remain resolute that the zoning arrangement of PDP made Hon Damishi Sango be the Chairman of the PDP Plateau State chapter and they have succeeded in destroying him to hand over power to Hon Amos Goyol Gombi which they claim they are not safe for wolves.

The Jang factions group plotting to bring in Hon Chris Hassan to complete the remaining tenure of Sango which is just 2 to 3 months to create a smooth ride for their candidate to emerge victoriously.

As gathered by this medium, when the issue of Damishi Sango crisis was on, the party at the State level wrote to the national leadership of the party asking them to intervene, and upon intervention by the party’s national office, it asked Sango to step down and part of the agreement was that Gombi will take over as acting Chairman of the State.

After Gombi was made the State Acting Chairman, it was alleged that Jang having seen that the Useni led group wanted Bitrus Kaze as the next Chairman of the party, a move which Jang and his group are not happy because five persons from Berom, Jang’s area are eyeing the position of the party’s chairman.

In less than few days Hon Amos Goyol Gombi who was still in Edo state, a secret meeting was scheduled to remove him and his structure which was resisted with a stiff attack to the headquarters.

Useni told journalists that in their military service with late Sani Abacha they don’t tolerate lawlessness, anyone who misbehaves would be dealt with according to the law but now you can see so many lawlessness raising its ugly head.

He said kidnapping is on the increase in Nigeria were nobody travel by road again, you soldiers are trained to protect the country but now Nigeria’s government is busy feeding soldiers who are not fighting a war.
