Itsekiri Ex-Students Condemn Okowa’s Conscious Act Of Misplaced Appointments of Persons Into Various Departments At DESOPADEC
The Itsekiri Ex-Students has frowned at Governor’s Okowa’s conscious act of misplacement of persons to head various departments in the newly constituted DESOPADEC board.
In a statement signed by Mayomi Amatesiro and Apoh Toritseju who are the Chairman and Secretary General respectively on behalf of the Itsekiri Ex-students leaders stated thus; “We the Itsekiri Ex-student Leaders are hereby calling on the Delta state governor Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to show and proof his critics wrong on shortchanging of Itsekiris on the newly appointed board of director in the Delta State oil Producing Area Commission (DESOPADEC).”
Speaking further they leaders said; “To us among all the appointments made so far by the Delta state government that of Engr. Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood is what we consider as the Itsekiri choice, hence any form of short-changing or misplacement of his portfolio will not be tolerated considering the fact that Itsekiris are the most marginalized ethnic Nationality in the state by the Okowa led administration.”
According to the Ex-Students they said that; “Engr. Victor Wood is a man of good capability profile and proven identity, that is why he was chosen above other Itsekiris by our highly respected King, Ogiame Atuwatse II OON, the Olu of Warri. As Itsekiri Ex-student Leaders we will not fold our hands watch any form of disregard to our king and his people considering the fact that we contribute more than 32 percent of the Nigeria’s national oil production, hence we are watching the Okowa lead government with an eagles eyes.”
Moreover, the group said; “It will be totally out of place for the Governor to appoint someone that studied agriculture to be the executive director projects against a proven and seasoned engineer like Engr. Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood. We frown strongly on this Conscious act of mis-placement of persons to head various department in the just sworn in DESOPADEC Board.”
“If Engr. Victor Wood portfolio is short-changed then we will truly believe the speculation that the Governor Okowa has no regard for the Itsekiri people and we won’t tolerate it,” the Group said.
