Irate youths at Gaida Unguwar Kwari, Kano, yesterday set the house of “Tijjaniyya” preacher, Abdul Nyass, was set on fire over an alleged blasphemous statement he made against prophet Muhammad.
The said comment which also attracted condemnations from Tijjaniyya leaders such as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi and Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u, also added that such comments could not have come from a disciple of Tijjaniyya.
By 10.00am yesterday youths in their numbers the house of Abdul Nyass in Gaida Unguwar Kwari at totally shattered the house after first setting it fire.
According to an eyewitness, Malam Sherehu, he said: “We were at the farm when some youths came to us asking for help with kerosene and matches. They said they wanted to set Abdul Nyass’s house on fire. It was just like a joke, but it was actually destroyed and the police had to come.”
Meanwhile, the Director General, Kano Hisbah board, Abba Sa’id Sufi, who also confirmed report, said that his board had earlier received the case but referred it to the police, as he added; “We have taken him to the police for further investigations. As I talk to you, he is with the CID”.
