Insecurity: Police IG Urges Public To Cooperate With Security Agencies

IMG_20150722_092822Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase has expressed that, the strength of the Nigeria Police Force and that of the security agencies alone are not sufficient to guarantee adequate security in the country unless through supportive action by the general public, according to him, to achieve adequate security largely depends on the people and how they were able to cooperate with the security agencies.

Speaking to journalists in an interview in Gombe, the Police boss urged the general public to give useful information to the police in other to achieve success in curbing insurgency that has bedevilled the northeast part of the country for long.

“The main strength of the Nigerian Police Force across the country is not sufficient to guarantee adequate security, we rely on community partnership, and that is the trend in international and national policing.” He stated.

The police IG who was in Gombe to commiserate with government and the people of the state over the Sallah eve market bomb blast that destroyed many lives and properties also took his time to visit Gombe Emir’s palace, and Government House Gombe where he emphasised on the need for police and public relationship.

During his courtesy visit to Gombe State Executive Governor, the IG called on government and other top government officials in the state to use their offices and sensitise the people on the need and importance of providing information to the security agencies.

He also commended the governor over his effort on development of the state, and his supportive effort towards the police force in the state.

While welcoming the IG to the state, Governor Dankwambo also thanked him for the quick response by the men of the Nigerian Police Force during the ugly incident that occurred in the state, even as he expressed readiness of the state government to invest in re-energising the security agencies in the state.
