Insecurity In Ohaji/Egbema: Chief Ekwueme, Father Of Murdered Youth, Destiny Shed Tears

• Describes OSPAC as killer-squad

Last Monday, Oct.25th, 2021, the entire people of Obile Autonomous Community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, was dragged into deep bitterness, mourning and laminating over the gruesome murder of one of their promising young men Late Mr.Destiny Onwukanjo Ekwueme.

 

The victim, Late Destiny until his sudden demise was 30 years old and a father of five (5) kids.

 

His death was triggered by security operators in the area known as Omoku Security Planning Committee ( OSPAC) who allegedly stormed his village abode in Obile and sporadically shot him dead while about nine (9) youths got bullet injuries and were rushed to a disclosed hospital.

 

According to late Destiny’s father, Chief Linus Onwukanjo Ekwueme, a farmer and also the Financial Secretary of Obile Town Union Government, who spoke to journalists in Owerri, expressed bitterness over the killing of his son.

 

Chief Linus, while speaking to newsmen,   insisted that some hired arsonists courtesy of the factional Obile Community President General, PG , Mr. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka, aka Blocker, in collaboration with the Interim Management Committee Chairman, IMC, of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha allegedly killed his son.

 

Disclosing the major cause of the crisis in Obile recently that led to the killing of Late Destiny Ekwueme, the victims’ father, Chief Linus Onwukanjo, flashed back that the Police came into his community and arrested the factional Obile PG, Mr.Omuruka, following a petition/complain against the threats of the lives of his family members.

 

Chief Onwukanjo revealed that Kingsley Omuruka only rose against his family just because of their support towards the authority of his Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze Abyssinia Columbus Ogbuji, whom, according to Chief Linus described the royal throne of Eze Ogbuji as divinely chosen to serve the people of Obile.

 

“Kingsley Omuruka led the killer-squad (OSPAC) who killed my son right inside my house in the presence of my daughter and my brother, Linus Obi, also witnessed when they shot dead my son at the chest and forehead”, Father of the deceased submitted.

 

“Omuruka’s allies who don’t support Eze Abyssinia stormed my house, killed my son, made away with three (3) motorcycles and stole some money worth of millions”, Onwukanjo disclosed.

 

“When we confirmed the death of my son, the community had no other option than to take the body to the premises of the Imo State Police Command”, Chief Linus cried out.

 

“The DSP of Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema was repeated received all my complaints/ petitions to invite Mr.Kingsley Omuruka, call him and his cohorts  to order but the Police kept deaf ears upon all the petitions and requests to make peace between Obile until the killing of my son, Destiny”, Onwukanjo insisted.

 

Lamenting, the victims’ father expressed disappointment at the sudden death of his son as motivated by Omuruka and his OSPAC who were authorized by the IMC Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Prince Marcel Amadioha.

 

” I want the government took into the problems, insecurity, and crises in Obile and other parts of Ohaji/Egbema. The Shared Prosperity Government under Governor Hope Uzodinma should as well bring Omuruka and his cohorts to book. Operators of OSPAC are killers. They were disbanded in Rivers State because of their unlawful activities, but were embraced by the IMC Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Area”, Chief Onwukanjo.

 

In his own words, the Traditional Ruler of Obile Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Abyssinia Columbus Ogbuji, expressed worry concerning the uncontrollable heights of insecurity in his community, even as he boldly accused the IMC Chairman, Prince Amadioha, of sponsoring banditry, killings, and insecurity in his community Obile in particular.

 

Eze Ogbuji, condemned the existence of OSPAC, ( a disbanded security outfit) in his community alone.

 

The Monarch who rendered his voice to the media, echoed against the inglorious reign and wicked heart of the IMC Chairman who, according to him is the major sponsor of all the killings in Obile.

 

Eze Abyssinia expressively accused the IMC Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Prince Marcel Amadioha,  Mr..Kingsley Omuruka, and OSPAC as the major instigators of the whole crisis and killings in his kingdom.

 

“What happened that led to the killing of Destiny Onwukanjo triggered by the IMC Chairman who solely formed OSPAC without my consent. OSPAC are dangerous killers of humanity. The government of Imo State requested for the establishment of Community Policing not the formation of OSPAC”, Eze Abyssinia noted.

 

“I have never supported the formation of OSPAC which was forcefully imposed on the people of Obile by the wicked power of the IMC Chairman of our Council.

 

The problems in Obile started long time ago when the current IMC Chairman was a Councillor. His hate-speeches and actions against my kingdom accumulated to the killings of our young man who was hardworking”, Abyssinia revealed.

 

Speaking lastly, the Traditional Ruler of Obile, Eze Ogbuji, disclosed that the killing of his late subject, Destiny was triggered and motivated immediately after his palace wrote a petition for the arrest of Omuruka.

 

Meanwhile, the IMC Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, who was accused of being an instigator of the killing of Destiny Onwukanjo and the crisis in Obile.

 

Amadioha while addressing the press, denied all the allegations leveled against him by the Traditional Ruler of Obile.

 

“The Town Union Caretaker Committee has been active for more than one year. Other Traditional Rulers in my Local Government accepted the mandates of the President Generals but that of Obile,Eze Abyssinia has failed to embrace his PG, Mr. Kingsley Omuruka (Blocker) and the Town Union Government under the current govt.in Imo State”, Amadioha hinted.

 

” You are aware the Ohaji/Egbema is not peaceful. Hoodlums have taken over the areas. That is why the Shared Prosperity Government is fighting against insecurity in the state”, Prince Marcel opened up.

 

Speaking on the issue of Destiny’s killing, ” I have never been briefed officially. I have never instigated any crises in Obile. Eze Abyssinia is the chief architect of the whole insecurity in his kingdom. I am aware the Traditional Ruler of Obile is the sole sponsor of insecurity. OSPAC is a peaceful security outfit that is poised to save lives in Obile and some other parts of Ohaji/Egbema. OSPAC are helping the Police with useful information in the continues combats of insecurity in the Local Government”, Prince Marcel narrated.

 

He, therefore, alleged Eze Abyssinia of masterminding the whole crisis in his community.

 

“All the President Generals were requested by the Imo Commissioner of Police to go and inaugurate Community Vigilante to curb insecurity. I have never aided any insecurity rather as the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government, I have the mandate to protect the lives and properties of the people of Ohaji/Egbema”, Amadioha submitted.

 

Note that at the time of filing this report, the alleged leader of OSPAC and the embattled PG of Obile, Mr..Kinglsey Omuruka, aka Blocker is cooling at the Police net in Owerri.
