Influx Of Strangers: Tricycle Association  In Jos Raises Alarm Over Harassment, Extortion Of Money

Over 13,000 members of the tricycle Rider Union of Nigeria (TRUN ) have raised alarm that security personnel constantly harassed them before the 9pm -5am official banning hours in the state.

The chairman Jos North chapter of the Tricycle Rider Union, Mallam Dahiru Hassan condemned the frustration and setback suffers by its members in the hand of security when the official time hadn’t reach. Hassan stated this in an interview with our correspondent.

He decried of impersonation which has always been experienced by the association and they used tricycle to perpetrate their heinous act of criminality to perfect the killing of its members.

According to him, the association recently lost 10 members who were brutality murdered by unknown persons and their bodies were left decomposed in the nearby bushes.

“We have help security to apprehend criminals in their hideout ,we also keep surveillance unit to monitor and beam search light on those criminals in the state”, he explained.

Mallam Hassan said the introduction of ban on movement of tricycle in the state capital is consider as a welcome development to check the influx of criminals in the state .

He blamed that the council boss didn’t go on wider consultation with stakeholders before implementing the policy but solicited for more awareness campaign to sensitize their members.

Hassan advised government to stop linking them with motor cycle riders who were banned yet they still operate in major roads between Jos and Bukuru metropolis respectively.

He stressed that as responsible body we pay revenue to the government because each pay 15,000 to obtain license from government.

Mallam Hassan maintains that with the coming of Tricycle riders we have reduce the transport fair of commercial traders by easing their movement.
