Impeachment Threat Against Plateau Speaker Peter Azi Gains Momentum, As Members Pushes Hard For His Ouster

The Impeachment threat against the Plateau House of Assembly Speaker, Peter Azi has continued to gain momentum as members of the State House of Assembly this medium gathered are already gearing up to carry out impeachment Process against the Speaker whom they members said are not happy with leadership style.

According to the members, they have not received their salaries and allowances for over five months now, speaking to this medium a member who pleaded anonymity said that rather than pressurizing the Governor to do something over their allowances, he has refused to do anything about their plights.

“We cannot go  to our constituencies due to harassment we will receive from our constituents who will always want us to help them, but as such we cannot because of lack of payment of our allowances and salaries,” the member hinted.

Speaking further he said; “As it is we are broke, things are not working okay for us.”

As learnt by this medium, the member are indeed gathering signatures, and that the members are serious about it, other members who spoke to our correspondent, names withheld as they pleaded not to be mentioned, lamented that they will soon commence the process of impeachment against the Speaker and other Principal officers of the House.

According to them, they are yet to receive their salaries and other entitlements which brought more difficulties and hardship on them and even as they hinted that most of them cannot visit their constituencies for the fear of attack.

They accused the Speaker, Rt Hon. Peter Azi for not being sensitive about their plights and kept traveling for foreign trips and also to Abuja for the conference of Speakers meeting without mounting pressure on the executive to settle their allowances and salaries.

The members also stated that even their overheads which is supposed to help them run their offices, they are not getting.
