The entire members and management of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Imo State Wing, on Wed.Feb.5th 2020,at their State Secretariat along Owerri/PH road under the authority of the State Chairman,Rev.Comr.Philip Nwansi, officially commissioned the Imo NUT Cooperative Building.

 

The NUT Imo State Chairman,  Rev.Nwansi,in his address at the occasion on the official commissioning of the State Cooperative Building,  expressed satisfaction with the heights development, especially as it concerns the relative peace in the union of teachers in Imo State Wing.

“On the assumption of office,i set up a machinery in motion towards realizing the promises which includes, the expansion of the teachers cooperative scheme to include the introduction of teachers savings and loan scheme and building of a  cooperative house amongst others. My administration fulfilled part of her promises by introducing ” Teachers Savings and Loan Scheme” in last April, 2019 and as it today about two hundred and fifteen (215) teachers including staff have benefited from the scheme with each teacher being granted a loan of three hundred thousand naira (300, 000). My administration has also fulfilled the promise of the construction of the Cooperative Building “,Rev.Philip boasted.

 

Those in attendance from the office of the NUT National includes:” the National President of the Union, Comr.Dr.Nasir Idris, the NUT Secretary General,  Chief Dr.Mike Ene, and other members of the Imo NUT State Executives present are: the State Secretary,  Comr.Godwin C.Asogwa, and so many respected teachers who are doing in the profession”.

 

The National President of NUT, Comr.Dr.Nasir Idris, who commissioned the multi-million naira Imo NUT Cooperative Building in Owerri, thanked God and the leadership of Imo Union of Teachers for making the actualization of the cooperative house a very huge success, even as he charged them in Imo to remain united.

 

The NUT East Regional Working Committee, ERWC,Chairman, Comr.Elder Etim Ukponge, who was ably represented the  Regional Secretary,  Comr.Mrs.Nnenna Okonkwo,expressed happiness for the leadership strides so far made by the Imo NUT Chairman.

 

The Regional Secretary while speaking on behalf of the Chairman,  said to Imo teachers,” now that you have closest access to loan at your door step, even as she called on Imo Teachers to make use of the Cooperative very judiciously.
