Imo Assembly Members Suspends Speaker Ihim, As He Escapes With Mace, Hon Offor Takes Over As Acting Speaker
21 out of the 27 (members) of the 8th Imo State House of Assembly members who are aggrieved today, May 15th 2019,suspended the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon.Acho Ihim, representing the people of Okigwe State Constituency and the Majority Leader of the House, Hon.Lugard Osuji, of Owerri Municipal State Constituency, over alleged pardon of the 27 LGA Council Chairmen who pleaded for forgiveness through the embattled speaker of the House, Rt.Hon.Acho Ihim.
The aggrieved lawmakers have also presented and submitted an impeachment letter to the clerk of the House against Acho Ihim.
The House therefore appointed Hon.Chinedu Offor,of Onuimo State Constituency as the Acting Speaker, whereas Hon.Lloyd Chukwuemeka, representing Owerri North State Constituency was also appointed by the lawmakers as the Majority Leader of the House.
It was also gathered the embattled speaker, Acho Ihim allegedly escaped with the mace to an unknown destination, whereas the Clerk of the House, Sir.Chris Duru, in an interaction with newsmen, described the suspension of the Ihim as invalid, he stated that suspension cannot hold ground hence, they did an illegal movement of the suspension at the corridor of the house instead of the plenary.
All efforts tried to contact any of the Imo State House of Assembly members to react, proved abortive as at the press time.
