The former minister of Information, Labaran Maku has attributed the unabated Fulani/Farmers conflict as having political undertone.
Calling on politicians in Nasarawa South to end the massive killings lingering since 2013,he described the scenario in Nasarawa state and other northern state as a sustain attacks by Fulani herders.
Labaran Maku said northern states in the country are experiencing massive unrest, attributing the present uproar to the failure of those at the behest of affairs.
He further added that vested interest amongst politicians also plunged the nation into conundrum for killings.
Expressing that the rising spate of violence would stop investors willing to invest in the state to make a u-turn to a safer environment devoid of crisis.
“If nothing is done to find a lasting solution to this reoccuring attacks, it would led to food crisis in the country because these are the areas that supply food to most parts of the country,” Maku added.
Maku donated food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Awe Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.
Over 18, 000 people who were displaced as a result of the spillover attack in Benue State by suspected hendsmen.
Maku said the donation which includes; rice, garri and cash, was to ameliorate the suffering of the displaced Persons in the State.
“I share in your grief, I sympathise with you over this unfortunate situation that has befallen you and your communities.
“These kinds of killing did not happen during the time of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Yakubu Gowon and even Shehu Shagari,so why is it happeneing now.
“During the period, fathers of the North, both Fulani and farmers were protected to do their economic activities without any fear.
“If it is not politically motivated, why is it that it is only the poor masses that are always the victims of killings and destructions of properties,”Maku asked.
He advised the masses who allow themselves to be use to reject offer by desperate politicians who heralded attacks on communities.
He therefore called on the Federal Government to beef up security in Nasarawa boarder towns that are prone to attacks.
Receiving the items on behalf of the IDPs in Awe, Joseph Kureve,expressed gratitude to Maku for the gesture and appealed to other spirited individuals to assist them.
He however, complained that despite that TIV people were being kill on daily bases and their house set ablaze, there are very few security to protect them.
He appealed to FG to intervene in their situation by providing adequate security to enable them return to their communities and go on with their activities.
He therefore pray to Almighty God to grand the soul of their people who were killed during the internal rest to give them the fortitude to bear the lost of their lost once.
