A Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Joseph Egbunike and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) deployed to Anambra State for Saturday’s governorship election have been removed from the assignment.
It was gathered that the two senior Police Officers have been redeployed by the Inspector General of Police Baba Alkali but no reason was given for their action.
However, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode, said DIG Egbunike was sent to another important assignment
The Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, has confirmed that DIG Egbunike has stepped down, but adduced no reason for the removal of the senior officer who is an indigene of Anambra State.
Meanwhile, Egbunike has been promptly replaced with Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Zaki Ahmed.
