IGP Assured Traders In Nasarawa State Of Smooth Ride

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has promised the people of Nasarawa state a crime free state, The IGP stated this in Lafia, even as he solicited for the cooperation of all and sundry in crime prevention and control.

During an interactive session with stakeholders which cut across the length and breadth of the state he assured the people of the state of the full support and commitment of the police, saying crime prevention and control remain the task of all.

“Everybody is a police, though we have police in uniform and police without uniform, Arase averred that the supply of additional operational vehicles would boost the morale of officers and men of Nigeria Police, Arase sued for community policing as the only way to crime prevention and control

The chairman Nasarawa state Traders Association has called on the Inspector General of Police to strengthen their mode of operation; He stressed the need for the police to tackle the increasing rate of highway robbery experienced in the state.

Shammasu Dantsoho who worried over the activities of highway robbers called on the police to accord utmost attention to highway patrol, Saying traders in the state suffers in the hands of highway hoodlums.

“Is a nightmare to traders in the state to travel with cash,” Though little has been achieved along Keffi-Lafia road and Lafia-Awe road respectively.

Those in attendance includes NURTW, NGo’s, Vigilante group, Igbo Cultural Association, Leaders of Fulani’s, and other associations who also commended the pragmatic approach of the IGP ,Some of the speakers called the IGP to build a befitting Police headquarter in the state.

Others expressed concerned over absence of response from police during distress call or emergency.
