Upset over the exclusion of the N1bn proposed for youth empowerment in 2014 budget by Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state aimed at curbing the rising spate of unemployment among youth in the state, The Governor said Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) has come to stay.
The Governor lament the action of the state House of Assembly for the exclusion of the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme, Al-Makura while addressing journalist at the presidential lodge at the weekend said the inaction of the lawmakers will not deter the initiative.

He stated that the 1470 youth engaged under NAYES are paid under the state security vote, Adding that creating job opportunity for the unemployed youth remain his priority, The Governor maintained that his administration has taken a concerted steps to support the downtrodden in the state.
“Our foresight of supporting people in the state is a continues process  to alleviate the suffering of the populace and we are committed by supporting the physically impaired with a take home pay of N20,000 paid to N1470  beneficiaries selected from all the electoral wards in the state”.
The Governor said the empowerment of people with disability will also be extended to market women and amongst other groups that deserved support, He maintained that his regime would not employ new crop of civil servants into the state civil service due to the lean resource of the state.
“Over N2.7bn goes to monthly emolument of Government workers leaving the state with meager resource to execute projects, This also include my emolument and political appointees in the state”.
The Governor declared that the implementation of the new minimum wage of N18,900 constitute a major setback  with the lean resource accrued to the state from the federation account.
Al-Makura speaking to journalist at the end of inspection of abandoned roads projects executed by the administration of Governor Aliyu Awe Doma said his regime succeeded in payment of N40bn debt incurred by past Government.
He further added that N3bn was paid as contractual liability of Gitata-Panda-Karu and water works at Nasarawa, A project initiated and abandoned by the then administration.
Governor Al-Makura instantly mobilized contractors handling the abandoned Adudu-Azara road to return to side, Stating that the current APC regime is a Government in a hurry, Adding that the  execution of projects that  has direct impact on the lives of the citizenry remain the cardinal objective of his Government.
Other projects inspected are Keana-Giza-Kadarko roads and Agyaragu-Gidan Ausa-Doma road will be revisited in a weeks’ time.
