I Never Collected N100 Million Bribe From Dangote To Suspend Emir Sanusi’s Probe– Kano Speaker, Rurum

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Rurum, yesterday denied the rumours making round he collected a N100 million bribe from a Kano business mogul Alhaji Aliko Dangote just to suspend the probe of Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II.

Speaking the Speaker said; “this is only a rumor and the work of my enemies who want to tarnish my image in my Village as well as in Kano state, by saying that I collect N100 million bribe and I will not leave the matter like this I will constitute a committee to investigate the matter.”

Rurum said; “I just heard the way you heard, saying I collected bribe from Aliko Gote just to suspend and destroy the efforts of the committee in the House investigating the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sunusi the II.”

“The report was also targeted at creating tension and chaos among the lawmakers and ridicule the personality of Dangote which I am telling you now that it is a complete lie,” Rurum said.

“The story is just a fabrication with all sorts of lies and unjustifiable issues because there was never a time I met with Dangote to discuss such an issue and even to collect some money from him, never ever, something like this never happened,” he said.

He explained that the intervention of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Northern governors and other notable Nigerians to stop the probe was channeled through the state governor and not directly to the Assembly, we only received a letter from the Governor because is a tradition that when such things happens, the governor gets in touch with us as one of the three arms of government.

Rurum also stated that thus; “Therefore, the governor forwarded his request letter to us appealing for the suspension of the investigation on behalf of all the concerned citizens and we did for the best interest of Kano citizens as well as every citizen in Kano, after that nothing else.”
