I Don’t Like Corruption, That Is Why I Don’t Love Money- Amaechi Tells Plateau Commissioners

The Minister of Transport Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has admonished members of the Plateau State executive council to eschew corruption in running the affairs of Governance.

The Minister further advised the Commissioners to have good relationship with the state legislature.

Amaechi gave the admonishment, while addressing members of the State executive council at the formal opening of a 4-day retreat titled: “Delivering effective service at an era of dwindling resources,” holding at National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru near Jos.”

I don’t like corruption that is why I don’t love money,” he said.

According to him the key to the success of the Government is for the Commissioners to keep a good relationship with the State legislature.

The Minister stressed that the House may not be superior to the Governor, but can be superior to the members of the State executive council.

He said: “The legislatures are superior to the Commissioners, as stipulated by the law, so don’t disregard them.”Amaechi told the Commissioners to always respond to the call of the House.

He said there may be petty jealousy among the Commissioners and members of the legislature, “they will always see you as having the budget.”Honesty and transparency is the most important key to exhibit,” Amaechi advised.

The secretary to Plateau state government, Hon Rufus Bature said Plateau state offers opportunities in various aspects of human endeavor, ranging from agriculture, mining, Tourism.

.According to him, the natural endowment form part of the 5 policy Thrust of Lalong administration, adding the regime identify the abundant resources and harness them for the benefit of our people.

“We must build on the strong foundation laid by our founding fathers and use the lessons learnt from our past mistakes.

He also stressed that the security agencies as partners in the peace building process in Plateau in service delivery and emphasis on legislature Executive partnership for effective performance.

Bature called for more innovative area to improve the economy of the administration efficiency and effectiveness in time of scarce resources.

In his vote of thanks to the Minister, the Plateau State Deputy Governor Sonny Tyoden said Amaechi was known for his; “honesty,” in dealing with issues.

He further told the Commissioners that they should not see themselves as competitors with the legislators, “but partners in progress.
