Kabiru Sokoto, the detained leader of the Boko Haram islamic sect, who is also the main suspect in the Christmas day bombing that took place at St. Theresa Catholci Church Madalla Niger State yesterday opened up on how the group carried out the attack on the church that took over 40 lives.
According to Sokoto, the attack was not done by any suicide bomber as he said; “It was not a suicide bomber as many have believed.


It was a coordinated attack. The car that was used for the operation was parked near the church laden with explosives and later detonated by the people assigned for the job. He added that the bombing of the church was done two of the group’s members, one Bashir Mohammed and Mukthar Kafanchan and that they were supervised by the sect commander in Niger state known as Sulieman Habib.

Sokoto told the court that an Algerian based group Muslimiyama was also funding the activities of the sect, according Sokoto, Muslimiyama which he said is also known as “the group from the sunset,” when translated said the last money which was N40 million sent by the Algerian group led to the dividing of Boko Haram into two factions.

Sokoto said; “there is a group in Algeria, Muslimiyama, and meaning ‘the group from the sunset’ which normally sends money to us. And it was because of the sharing of N40m they sent to us that our sect split into two. I was given N500,000 out of the money which I used to buy Koran and other books.”

The case was later adjourned by the trial Judge; Justice Adeniyi Ademola to May 16 to 20, 2013.
