How  Unknown Gunmen Killed INEC Staff,  Injured Others  At Ihitte-Uboma

The continuous efforts of the Imo State Government to end insecurity have remained not solved as the heights of the insecurity thicken day after day.

On Thursday, April 14th, 2022, some workers of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, in Imo State, witnessed hell when some dreaded unknown men stormed the venue for the Continuous (Permanent) Voters Cards, CRC, (PVC) registration exercise that was going on at Ihitte-Uboma LGA of the state and dragged a staff of the commission to his early grave.

Information from the confirmed viral video displayed the rugged and heartless actions of those gunmen who partially covered their faces as they shot dead staff of the commission, whereas many of the workers of INEC and some patriotic citizens who trooped out en masse to obtain their PVC’s got injured during the attack.

It is now obvious that the ugly of insecurity has kept worsening on daily basis.

Meanwhile, INEC has already confirmed this incident at Ihitte-Uboma LGA of Imo State in a press statement signed by the Spokesperson.

Furthermore, the Imo INEC REC, Prof. Emeka Ezeonu, in a press statement signed, disclosed that an INEC staff, Mr.Anthony Nwokorie, was shot dead by the unknown gunmen at Nkwo-Ihitte (PU 004) in Amakohia Ward (RA 02) of Ihitte-Uboma, whereas two other INEC workers ran away to yet unidentified destinations.

More so, as at the press time, the Imo State Police Command’s PPRO did not confirm the ugly incident.
