How Sen. GNS Pwajok Died At 48 As Gov. Lalong Mourns His death

The Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong received with great shock, today the 29th October, 2015; the news of the demise of Distinguished Senator Gyang N.S. Pwajok, the Gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the April 2015 Election.

The Governor is deeply grieved that death has robbed Plateau of the Contribution of the Distinguished Senator, whose wealth of Political and Legislative experience would have added value in the bridge building project on the Plateau as well the Peace and Conflict resolution process in the Northern Senatorial District.

The Governor holds in high esteem account of his selfless efforts in seeing to the resolution of the several violent conflicts in the Northern Senatorial District which he represented in the 7th Assembly of the Senate.  Death has no doubt robbed the State of the robust contribution of the Distinguished Senator to Nation Building.

As the State mourns the demise of this astute and vibrant politician, the Governor on behalf of his family and the good people of Plateau commiserate with his family, the Berom Nation and the National Assembly over this loss. He prays for God’s comfort and eternal rest for the soul of the departed Senator.

It will be recalled that the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State in the  April 11 Gubernatorial election, Senator Gyang Pwajok is dead.

GNS, as he was fondly called by friends, died on Wednesday night  in an Indian hospital at the age of 48 after a protracted liver disease.

Pwajok took ill in May, and was therefore unable to join his colleagues in the valedictory session of the 7th Assembly. He was flown out immediately to a London hospital, and was subsequently transferred to India for a better medical care, where he eventually gave in to death yesterday.

Pwajok died barely three days after the judgment of the election petition tribunal that has discountenanced his complaint against Governor Simon Bako Lalong.

He was a former director research and documentations government house, also chief of staff to government house under Jonah Jang’s administration; he later became the Senator that represented Plateau North Senatorial district before vying for governorship of the state.

Also confirming his death media officer of Pwajok at electioneering, Chuwang Dung, told journalists on telephone, that an official statement would be issued by the Pwajok’s family later.

A source from his family, who disclosed the news to newsmen, said he died of a cancer related illness (in particular, cancer of the liver). He added that arrangements are in top gear to return his remains to the country.

An amiable and extremely intelligent young man, Pwajok will be remembered for immense contribution to the successes recorded  by the immediate past Governor of the state,  Senator Jonah David Jang.
