Economic and business activities has crippled in almost all the 27 local governments areas in Jigawa State as the local governments are yet to receive their salary of November 2016.
Our reporter who spoke to some of the sole administrators of the local government was told that they have not received their November salary for the councils.
The poor financial activities has affected business group in area who gives their aid to the council finances as they have hold their arms due to nonpayment of the last month salary because many of them were indebted by the council.
Source close to the councils in the state ministry of local government who seek to cover his name said many local governments within the 27 council areas in the state did not receive their salary but they were told to be silent to the press.
Another local government official from Dutse name withheld said local government are in critical situation in the state because many council did not receive their salary explained further that things are going wrong across the 27 council areas.
“Because many of the local government were operating skeletal services and many of their staff has not been attending their official duties due to nonpayment of their salary, the issues of their salary forced them to look for other ways to feed their families,” the source said.
When contacted the commissioner of local government in the state Alhaji Aminu kanta Babura did not comment on the issues but commented on sugar cane farming the state government is planning to establish with the support of one Mr. Lee a business tycoon from China.
