How Police Abandoned Me In Hospital, Having Damaged My Body In The Line of Duty, Police Corporal Cries Out To Senate

A Corporal in Nigeria Police, Ayodele Godwin has petitioned the Senate over outright neglect and disregard by Police Authority as result of Injury sustained at his sustained at the duty post in Edo state.

According to the Petition addressed to Senate President which was obtained by our correspondent showed that on 2nd day of June 2017, Ayodele and three other policemen namely; Inspector Goodluck Osemwenyaru, Sgt Ikponmwosa Teslyne and Sgt Osaigbovo Elvis were drafted to a duty post along Benin-Auchi Road, a volatile area at Okuo Village to combat against the dreaded Fulani kidnappers who on daily basis terrorizing the innocent citizens on the road.

The petitioner explained that at the duty post a Toyota Corolla black in colour with Registration No. ABC 650 AB skidded off the road and ran into our client and one of the officers Sergeant  Ikponmwosa Teslyne who was unconscious for two days and later recuperated.

But, the Ayodele (petitioner) right leg from the knee to the Ankle was severely damaged and has been in the hospital since the time the incidence occurred.

The petitioner stated that the Nigeria Police which is fully aware of his situation and he has been neglected and abandoned by the Nigerian Police.

According to him, I have been neglected by the Police Authority for over five months. The Police Authority is fully aware that, this life threatening injury was sustained in the course of our client’s official duty and they have neglected, refused and failed to show any concern.

The petition reads in part , “he is an illustrious son of Imoga Village, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State and a Police Officer in the rank of Corporal with Force N0: 456694 attached to Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit, Edo State Police Command, State Headquarter, Benin City.

“On the 2nd day of June 2017, our client and three other policemen namely; Inspr. Goodluck Osemwenyaru, Sgt Ikponmwosa Teslyne and Sgt Osaigbovo Elvis were drafted to a duty post along Benin-Auchi Road, a volatile area at Okuo Village to combat against the dreaded Fulani kidnappers who on daily basis terrorizing the innocent citizens on the road.

“A Toyota Corolla black in colour with Registration No. ABC 650 AB skidded off the road and ran into our client and one of the officers Sgt Ikponmwosa Teslyne who was unconscious for two days and later recuperated by the mercies of the Almighty God. Whereupon, our client’s right leg from the knee to the Ankle was severely damaged. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where the doctor declined treatment, rather advised that the damaged leg be amputated which Our Client opted against.”
