Over 200 people mainly women and children were believed to have been killed in Saturday’s deadly Boko Haram attacks around the Dalori and Wanori villages, a suburban settlement 5km on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Daily Correspondents can exclusively and authoritatively report.

The militants who took the quiet village by surprise at about 7pm operated for more than 4 hours without any resistance from the military, Daily Correspondents gathered from surviving fleeing members of the community.

“Over 120 of our people were killed by these bastards throughout their killing spree at Dalori town alone, while several others were injured.

“And as you can see they burnt all the houses in the village and no military man was present to help.

“The Boko Haram were unchallenged throughout the attack as the military were only firing artillery from their barracks,” he said.

Daily Correspondents gathered that the rampaging Boko Haram militants came with about 9 Toyota Hilux vehicles and some motorcycles, including one Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, and began killing people, mostly women and children who could not run.

Daily Correspondents had obtained photos of the charred remains of the victims mostly children.

Meanwhile more than 80 people were also killed in Gopa, a nearby village by a suicide bomber on Sunday.

The suicide bomber was said to have dressed in military camouflage calling on people who were fleeing the town to come for rescue, while he detonated his explosives.

Hospital sources at the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri told Daily Correspondents that 64 dead bodies were brought into the hospital morgue last night while 48 people were critically wounded and currently receiving treatment.

However, Alhaji Ahmed Satomi, the Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) described the incident as “Devastating and Terrifying”, while fielding questions from reporters in Maiduguri.
