How Irate Youths In Jos Set Houses Ablaze, Destroy Vehicles

A group of rampaging irate youths from Jos South has gone berserk by destroying at least six, (6) houses believed to be owned by Tarok settlers over an alleged pointing those of them that are into a criminal act to security agencies.

About Eight houses belonging to Tarok Speaking Natives at Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State on Monday were set ablaze by a group of irate youths who were arrested by the Nigeria Police for their involvement in the theft and criminal breach of trust.

Information revealed that in the accident that occurred in the early hours where vehicles belonging to residents were damaged beyond repair, houses torched.

These groups of irate youths were this medium learned that they were mobilized to attack the residence of Kwata in Jos South LGA.

This medium also gathered that the accident occurred at Kwata area suburb of the city properties.

The Former Chairman of Wase LGA, Hon Jacob Dashe confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with journalists in Jos on Monday morning.

He said that the incident involved cars and six Tarok Houses which is new to them, “if the Berom have something against us settling on their land they should come out and inform us rather than treating us like foreigners.”

He further stated that the six houses were involved in the attack out of whom only a few of us escaped the onslaught, but no one died, while none sustained injury.

Our correspondent at the scene gathered that a bus, which was parked in the compound was instantly damaged and destruction of houses.

An eyewitness told us that the six houses were immediately burnt and residents took to their heels after the incident, adding that this angered youth forced themselves to set the houses ablaze.

The eyewitness said that the crimes were initially reported to the DPO Bukuru.

“The irate youth, who were angered by the incident, later set the houses on fire while shooting sporadically with weapons.

The rampaging irate youths on Sunday embarked on operation show me Tarok speaking natives’ houses in Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State who took the laws into their hands to unleash terror on any Tarok who bought land in Kwata district of Jos South.

It was disclosed that the coordinated crime was committed by a group of Berom youths which led to their arrest by security agencies.
