On Friday, March 15th 2019, in Owerri, the Imo PDP State Chairman, Barr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem, with the members of the party’s State Working Committee, SWC, at the party secretariat along Owerri/Okigwe Road, told Imolites in a press briefing with some cross section of newsmen where it alleged the Imo State outgoing Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has diverted a huge sum amounting to over N17 billion from Access Bank, Zenith Bank and other banks which he allegedly transferred into his own personal bank accounts.
The Party Chairman, Ezekwem, who spoke to newsmen, expressively accused Gov. Rochas Okorocha and some of his political cohorts (his office holders, appointees) of stealing of over 150 vehicles.
The leadership of Imo PDP therefore alleged that Chief Okorocha unlawful and illegally transferred monies belonging to the State into his personal accounts.
The Party Chairman moreso accused Gov. Rochas Okorocha of looting over N17billion belonging to the State, over 150 vehicles, issuance of C of Os to himself, his family members and his in-laws.
He disclosed that the transactions involved the management of Access Bank and Zenith Banks, which he said were fingered in the alleged fraud in collaboration with the outgoing Imo Governor.
“We are using the opportunity to call on Rochas and his conscience to get ready and prepare to handover to the Gov. Elect, Rt. Hon.Emeka Ihedioha.
At the Local Govt. Areas, the people of APC and AA are exchanging plate numbers of govt. vehicles, numbering over 150 vehicles.
The party said looting and stealing of Imo treasury accounts cannot salvage the current situation”, Ezekwem submitted.
The party alleged that these withdrawals were done within the past two days.
