How FG’s Established Tsangaya Schools Were Abandoned And Neglected,The Jigawa Example (See Photos)

As Federal Government plans to build more Islamic schools in seven selected states in the north, findings by this medium indicate that majority, the ones built by the previous government six years ago, are now abandoned.

For instance In Dutse the Jigawa Stata capital,  our reporter who went round to observe the state of the Tsangaya Islamic model Schools built by the federal government in seven local government areas of Jigawa state six years ago observed that programme has failed as it does not function at par to meet the major reasons why it was formed.

Findings by our reporter show that majority of the students sleep in their classes and most of the building has been neglected while some of the buildings have been overtaken grasses, even as lessons are yet to commence in those schools.

When contacted Malam Garba Ubandi, the Director Tsangaya schools in Jigawa, said the state has seven Tsangaya School one in Gantsa Buji Local Government and another one at Mai Aduwa village of Gagarawa, he also added that there is another one at Adaba in Jahun Local Government as well as in Birniwa and Sule Tankarkar and Gwiwa Local Government respectively.

He debunked rumors that the schools are having problems of accommodation, even as he added that confirmed that very soon their first student will start writing their first final examinations.

According to him, more than 21 Islammiyya schools will soon be opened in seven northern selected States which he stated that Jigawa state is among the seven States selected.

It would be recalled that these Tsangaya schools were established in a bid in modernizing Quranic education as well as eradicate Almajiri system in the north.
