How Agric Department Doma L.G Collected N80,000 From Suspects Who Polluted A River In Doma And   Released Them

A titleholder in Alagye district of Doma Local Government of Nasarawa State has faulted the rising wave of water pollution in riverine communities to the inability of those in power to punish offenders, saying unless recalcitrant are punished in accordance to the new law or else the ugly trend would continue.

 

Madakin Alagye disclosed this as one of the main reasons why fishermen are found of breaking the law, He stated this when the District Head of Alagye  visited Ruwan Baka community to ascertain the damage caused by water pollution in the last three weeks.

 

He said the State government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources must wake up from their slumber by punishing anybody found wanting, adding that water pollution did not only kill livestock but also other aquatics and Human beings.

 

The Chairman of Doma Local Government,Hon.Rabo Sani would not be reached as at press time as his phone number is not responding to calls, It was gathered that those at the echelon of power connived with the prime suspect of water pollution in Ruwan Baka by collecting N80,000 and setting them free.

 

The nonchalant attitude of the officers, it was gathered  has led to the pollution of water in Iga,Burum-,Kwatan Arume,Rukubi.
