How a certificate holder in engineering from Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic fabricate mobile Tracking Device in Bauchi, Abdullahi Garba named the device ‘ Mobile Security Control Device ‘ that can be installed in motorcycle or car to help in tracking them down within the shortest possible time if stolen.

 

Abdullahi said he developed an interest in the idea in 2010 after completing his secondary school, added that the device, when installed in a water pump engine, can also help farmers water their farms from home by simply dialing a code using the ordinary handset.

 

“As you can see, I am the one who developed this device and its functions differ from other devices that were fabricated by other people or companies. The device is cheap and easy to operate unlike others that are so technical”, he said.

 

“I first conceived this idea to develop this device in 2010 and I now feel I should tell the world what Allah has bestowed in me that will help the society and create job opportunities”, Abdullahi added.

 

According to him, “the device has multiple functions and is in line with the present technological advancement of the world. You can use the device to control your property in like say Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria from your comfort zone in Bauchi state”.

 

The device developer who said people can use their phones to operate the device from Bauchi and control their vehicles, house gate, generator or source of electricity in Lagos or Abuja added that the device can also be used to switch on or off light at home.

 

“You can also use it to close or open the gate of your house or even warm your car battery. You don’t need to look for someone to warm your car battery if you are away from home, all you need to do is to dial the code through your phone, and the motorcycle or the car will start itself pending when you finish and dial the code again for it to stop”, he explained.

 

Abdullahi who said he did not learn this from the classroom or anybody, said that the idea just came to his mind while he was sitting at home one day, adding that, “I mediated within myself as to why handsets cannot be used for other things apart from making calls, chatting or sending text messages? So I decided to create another function for phones”.

 

“I observed that there are rampant cases of theft of motorcycles and vehicles despite the presence of some security devices, that is why I developed something different that mobile phone can be used to provide security for such properties”, he said.

 

On its economic benefits, Abdullahi said those engaged in dry season farming can use the system to control power engines for watering their farms from home to save them from paying transport fare or spending money to fuel their vehicles before watering their farms.

 

“The beauty part of this device is that you can use it to control the equipment in your farm and water it. All you need to do is to connect the device to your phone, any type of phone, not necessarily the expensive ones, use the code number you have created to start the engine. When you feel the farm has been watered, you dial the code again and it will automatically stop”, Abdullahi further explained.

 

He said a farmer can use a handset to operate the device installed on his water pump engine in Bauchi from Abuja or anywhere as long as there is a mobile network in that area.

 

“When you start the engine, it will automatically start watering your farm until the specific time you have ordered, be it one hour, two hours, or whatever is completed, then you dial the code again to stop it”, Abdullahi added.

 

According to him, the device can also be used to control prepaid meters to avoid wastage of units in case the house owner traveled and forgot to off his meter.

 

“You may be using the prepaid meter in your house and maybe by the time you traveled you wouldn’t want the power to be on constantly, you can use the device to switch on or off at any given time you so wished”, he further explained.

 

Abdullahi who said many people who are close to him have benefited from his technology, solicited government support to help him broaden his research for the benefit of the state and by extension, Nigeria as a whole.

 

“I would have loved to expand on this God-given talent most especially as it regards securing of properties but funding has been my obstacle”, he said.
