The Founder of Peace Advancement Action Against Violence And Rape Foundation ( PAAAVARF), Vivien Ebere Abara has reechoed by condemning sharp barbaric practices of African traditions, where victims of HIV/Aids are advised to sleep with underage children to be healed from infections through their native doctors.

She raised the alarm that her organization is currently battling to save the life of a  minor after the case of a 54-year-old adult that raped her because the witch doctor pronounced him  HIV positive in Mangu Local Government Council of plateau state.

She said the message was that if he sleeps with a virgin girl the infection will disappear, so Mr. Yohanna Danladi took advantage of the vulnerability of the girl to have carnal knowledge of the minor and we took over the matter to prosecute it.

However, it is sad that the legal system is being corrupted and the criminal act is absolute that rapists would commit the crime and walk freely on the streets .

However, Abara explained further that they are worried by the rising cases of rape, and violence against women, she called on the Federal and States government to focus more on policies and programs that would address the plight of gender-based violence and vulnerable children in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa where conflict had ravage communities leading to the internal displacement of people in the region.

Abara in an interview appealed to the concerned agencies of government to step up policy to end the incessant conflict in Nigeria held in Jos.

She said,” I think that the prevalent issues of gender-based violence and vulnerable children in sub-sahara Africa is due to policy and programs that abandon the plight of vulnerable rural people, and these have been subdued by the normal African way of doing things as they are disenfranchised economically as most of them don’t have a home or houses that they can stay “.

Ebere Abara reiterated that PAAAVARF, the mission is to promote peaceful activities, and stands against all forms of gender-based violence, child labour, and human trafficking in Nigeria.

According to her, through sensitization, intervention, and awareness campaigns the organisation works with communities to build trust, foster peace and promote respect for human lives and dignity.
