House of Representatives Honours Warri North Council Boss With SURE-P Award

The Federal House of Representatives has honoured the Chairman of Warri North Local Government of Delta State, Hon. Francis Eyituoyo Maka, with SURE-P Merit Award for outstanding performance in rural development.
Maka who was represented by Comr. Austine Obule , received the award at the weekend by the House Committee on Rural Development in Abuja.
Presenting the award to Obule, Clerk of Committee, Jehu Kwayama, said the council boss has been deeply committed in executing grassroots oriented projects, and has added value to the life of the people in Warri North Local Government Area since Hon Maka was elected chairman in 2014.
Kwayama commended the effort of the Chairman in arresting youth restiveness and crime in the area, which he noted that the local government has been adjudged as one of the most peaceful and industrious local government areas in Delta State.
He also disclosed that Hon Maka was nominated for the SURE-P Merit Award by the Delta State SURE-P office as outstanding Chairman in the state. He urged him to do more to transform the lives of the people in his local government area and promised him the committee’s support in implementing rural development programmes and policies.
However, Comr Obule who received the award on behalf of the Chairman in his speech expressed gratitude for the rare honour done on his boss and the entire Warri North Local Government Area and recognition of his dogged effort to give the people’s life a meaning.
Obule also on behalf of his boss assured the House Committee on Rural Development of more strategic rural development projects and programmes in 2015 and to consolidate on his achievement so far in less than a year as chairman in the local government area.
He highlighted some of the achievements by Hon Maka in the area of rural health care delivery leading to accessing of health services by the people, reduction in maternal and child mortality rate in the area.

Provision of skill acquisition and vocational training of the youth in the area, and job creation for the youth, attraction of investors in the area, and peaceful co-existence between companies operating in the area with host communities,  transformation in the primary education, improved workers’ welfare, and zero labour related unrest, and support from the people.
