My House Burnt By Political Enemies-Senator Gaya

Abubakar Haruna Galadanchi

Some youths from Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State have burnt four houses belonging to several political leaders in the area including the current one senator kabiru Ibrahim Gaya.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the media aide of Senator Kabiru Gaya, Alhaji Idris Afegbua, he said: “Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya is in America, but he attributed the mob action that led to the burning of his house and those of others in Gaya as the work of political enemies.

The statement read those involved by the mob action include Senator representing the area, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya the member representing Gaya in the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Mahmud Abdullahi; Chairman of Gaya Local Government and the honourable member representing Gaya in the Kano State House Assembly.

It noted that while Abdullahi’s farm was razed down by angry youths, others lost their houses to the mob action.

It would be recalled that, some youths suspected to be political thugs, on Wednesday set ablaze the residence of Sen. Kabiru Gaya, in Gaya Local Government area of Kano State.

The youths also set ablaze the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member from the area, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud. An eye witness told newsmen in Kano that the incident occurred yesterday.

According to the witness, the youths were protesting the alleged failure of the two politicians to fulfill the promises they made to them during the electioneering campaigns in 2015, otherwise they use the chance of the youth to drug them and give them dangerous weapons to attack the oppositions and promise several things to them but none of them fulfill the promise.

It was gathered that security agents had initially dispersed the protesting youths, who later regrouped and burnt the senator’s house before heading to the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member.

Our sources confirmed that the hoodlums had also attempted to burn the residence of the Chairman, Gaya local government but were over powered by the security personnel deployed to quell the violence. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Police Command, DSP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident.

He said that the police in the area were still trying to contain the situation. “Our men in Gaya are still trying to bring the situation under control but as soon as we get details of the incident, we will keep you posted”, he said.
