Hoodlums Set INEC Office Ablaze In Enugu Community

The Awgu Local Government office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Enugu state was on Sunday set ablaze by unknown arsonists.

 

Our correspondent gathered that the INEC office was set ablaze at the early hours of Sunday by yet unidentified hoodlums.

 

An eye witnessed account who spoke on condition of anonymity said part of the building and important documents were burnt down during fire inferno.

 

He said,” though Fire Service was alerted to put off the fire but before they could get there, the fire had destroyed part of the building and other documents”.

 

All efforts to contact the Police Spokesperson of Enugu state Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe to confirm the fire incident proofed abortive as he did ot pick his calls.

 

A staff of INEC in Enugu who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident saying” staff of the commission and security operatives are already in our office in Agwu to ascertain the level of damages as well as the unravel cause of the fire incident .

 

Our correspondent reports that this is the 4th INEC office that would be set ablaze in Enugu state in less than 6 months.
