The former executive chairman of Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, Hon. Shehu Bala Usman, has drawn Gov. Caleb Mutfwang’s attention to a rescheduled plan for the commissioning of the legislative chamber of the council project, which was originally executed and commissioned.

In a statement issued by Hon. Peter Sarki Mesamari on behalf of the former chairman, Shehu Bala Usman, and made available to Universalreportersng in Jos.

Shehu Bala condemned the decision to deny him some of the legacy projects by the recent act of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the incumbent Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, J.K. Christ.

He also raised serious concerns over the ethical and political misrepresentation. The commissioning of this legislative chamber of Jos North Local Government Area, a project originally executed and commissioned by Amb. Hon. Shehu Bala Usman during his tenure as executive chairman, is an unjust attempt to claim credit for another’s hard work.

Amb. Hon. Shehu Bala Usman, a leader renowned for his dedication to development and inclusivity, undertook this project to strengthen democratic processes and governance in the council.

Notably, the project was executed under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the contractor, which allowed for the payment to be made in installments.

This innovative arrangement demonstrated Hon. Usman’s commitment to progress and fiscal responsibility, ensuring that, the project was completed efficiently without burdening the council’s finances.

His tenure was marked by numerous initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Jos North and fostering progress in the region. The legislative chamber is a testament to his leadership and commitment to providing a conducive environment, for legislative deliberations and decision-making.

However, the recent actions of the PDP-led administration, inviting the executive governor of Plateau State under the same party to commission this project, are a blatant attempt to rewrite history.

This move not only undermines the hard work and achievements of Hon. Shehu Bala Usman but also reflects poorly on the integrity of the incumbent administration.

It sets a dangerous precedent where political parties prioritize propaganda and self-glorification over accountability and transparency.

This act of political dishonesty must be condemned by all well-meaning citizens of Plateau State. It is crucial to recognize and appreciate the efforts of leaders who genuinely contribute to the development of their communities rather than allowing partisan politics to overshadow their legacies.

The people of Jos North must stand united in safeguarding the truth and ensuring that the rightful individuals are credited for their contributions.

Such actions highlight the need for greater accountability in governance and the importance of maintaining historical accuracy. Leaders should focus on delivering impactful projects and initiatives rather than seeking shortcuts to gain political mileage. Hon. Shehu Bala Usman’s achievements remain a source of inspiration, and no amount of political manipulation can erase his contributions to the growth and development of Jos North Local Government Area.

Finally, we call on his excellency, The governor of Plateau State, not to somersault on protocol and to make further inquiries.

We urge the chairman of Jos North LGA to initiate his project for the collective development of the LGA.
