Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo’s Supporters Decry Attempt To Impose Senator Adokwe As Sole Candidate

Multitude of supporters of Hon.Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, an incumbent member Federal House of Representatives, representing Awe, Doma, Keana Federal Constituency has lament over the decision of the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Uche Secondus and the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Francis Orogu to trade with caution on their insistence to impose Senator, Suleiman Adokwe as a sole candidate of the party as against the will of the electorate.

 

 

Some of the protesters who spoke to universalreportersng.com at the party secretariat during a closed door meeting by leadership of the party in Lafia expressed discontentment over the way and manner the leadership of the party both at Federal and state level connive to impose candidate against the will of the people.

 

 

Impeccable source uncovered that the National Chairman of party invited Senator Suleiman Adokwe the senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial district and the second time member Federal House of Representatives, representing Awe, Doma, Keana Federal Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo with an intention to produce a consensus candidate.

 

 

But the meeting ended in a waterloo as Hon. Onawo stitch to his gum by insisting that he would contest for Senate, an aspiration that is against the will of party heavyweight at both federal and state level respectively.

 

 

Feelers from Wadata plaza, Abuja said the perturbed National Chairman in the closed door meeting averred that any aspirant that refused to abide by the position of the party leadership would be foist to leave the party.

 

 

This did not go down well with some of the staunch members of the party and core supporters of Hon. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo who if not the timely intervention of security and office workers prevented them from lynching the state Chairman who was at a marathon meeting with few state executive of the party.

 

 

“The leadership of the party under Hon. Francis Orogu is a total disappointment which if not carefully taken care of would lead to a replication of 2015 election where by Yusuf Agabi emerged as a governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party but loose gallantly to the ruling All Progressives Congress “.

 

In another vain, supporters of the party are challenging the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Francis Orogu for changing the names of some delegates in Awe, Keana and Doma respectively.

 

It gathered that 2 delegates from Ekye were affected in the ongoing swapping of 3 ad-hoc delegates, those affected in Azara are

 

1.Mohammed Hassan

 

2.Adamu Zanwa

 

3.Maimuna Audu

 

But the affected delegates are yet to know their fate.

It was reliably gathered that Orogu the three man ad-hoc delegates were yet to be given their forms which will qualify them to participate in this month party primaries.

 

 

The position was contained in a letter of complaint by Hon.Abdullahi Yakubu Wambai and made available to universalreportersng.com with capture “Non-Compliance with the Constitution of the PDP And electoral act.

 

 

Wambai is challenging the participation of the current Organizing Secretary of the party, Hon. Yahaya Usman Bunu for not resigning his political position in the party which was against the party guideline.

 

 

It is imperative to state that section 47 (5) of the constitution of the PDP as amended 2017 provide thus:

 

“Any officer elected into Executive Committee of the party at any level may resign his or her office by giving (30) days’ notice in writing to the appropriate Executive Committee”.

 

 

Other party official yet to resign is the party secretary in Doma Local Government who is contesting for House of Assembly from Doma South constituency.

 

 

Only time shall tell who the party is protecting.
