Heavy Rainstorm Destroys The Only Bridge Linking Jos East Headquarter In Plateau State, Washes Away 15 Hectares Farmlands (Photos )

About 15 hectares of farmlands belonging to Koriming community of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State has been destroyed by flood after the heavy rainfalls that lasted several hours which also destroyed the only bridge connecting to Fobour headquarters.

The member representing Jos East at the Plateau state House of Assembly, Hon Joshua Madaki has solicited for the assistance of Plateau Government to come to their help with the construction of the only road linking the Local Government headquarters which was washed away by heavy downpour.

Madaki explained that the flood disaster washed off hectares of farmlands worth millions of Naira and also disconnected the people from headquarters of Jos -East Local Government Council of Plateau state started around 3pm on Thursday.

Hon Joshua Madaki said, it is quite pathetic and very alarming that since last year similar disaster has continued to wreaked havoc, as he said when this occurred they lost 29 cows to the floods that ravaged the entire local government which threw them into monumental loss.

“A company came to our rescue to construct the road linking the headquarters and we commended them but the magnitude of damage done has caused devastation that it has affected my people especially now that the season is about ending, we are now disconnected completely from the nation,” he said.

He called on the state emergency agency to mobilize succor to the affected community and civil servants working in the local government to access the administrative headquarters because the council has been completely cut off.

The member lamented that something urgent should be done to ease transportation of goods now that farmers are in dire need of conveying fertilizers by asking the contractors to move to site to ease the problems created by the incident.

Madaki disclosed that the floods truly destroyed people’s farms by rendering some families homeless.

The Village Head of Koriming ,RH Agwom a Jaya also said that; “we appeal to governor Simon Lalong to kindly come to our rescue and assist those affected community whose crops were destroyed by the flooding.”

He expressed disappointment with Plateau government on how they have abandoned some ongoing construction projects as he said that politician came to them during electioneering campaign but has neglected them when election is over.

The Acting management Committee Chairman Hon Ishaya Ezra said the Thursday’s heavy down pour which lasted hours washed away his people’s crops which were worth millions.

He added that the flood has continue to cause devastation to the residents rendering them homeless as he appealed to government to provide help to them.
