Gunmen Wednesday killed as many as 10 people in an attack on various communities in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state.
The chairman Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Farmasum Fuddang, and secretary, Ambassador Duwam Bosco, stated this in a jointly signed statement, Thursday.
“In just one week, we have lost over 20 community members due to these marauding terrorists who are engaged in an ongoing ethnic and religious cleansing of five villages. On April 2 alone, they killed over 10 people,” the BCDC said.
The group added that the attackers launched a brazen assault in broad daylight in Mangor Tamiso and then moved to Daffo, Manguna and invaded Hurti and Tadai villages.
“All thanks to the Nigerian military and police for their swift response to distress calls, which helped minimise casualties,” the statement said.
The group added that given the logistical and manpower challenges faced by the institutions, all Bokkos indigenes are urged to heed Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s advice to protect themselves.
All efforts at getting comments from the Plateau state Police , DSP Alfred Alabo, and his counterpart in Operation Safe Haven, Major Nantip Zhakom, were unsuccessful as at the time of filling this report.
